Lesson Policy
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teacher’s pledge: to teach the discipline, language, and joy of making music at the piano. The teacher will provide a safe, supportive, positive learning environment. The curriculum will be tailored to support each student’s individual learning and musical needs.
In order to provide the most effective teaching possible, the following policies have been established below.
TUITION & FEES :
1.1 Tuition covers the time spent with you/your child, as well as time spent preparing for lessons.
1.2 Students may enroll in weekly 30, 45 or 60-minute private lessons, depending on age/level. Payment for each four-lesson package will be collected upon enrollment and subsequently whenever the remaining lesson credits are nearly depleted.
1.3 A non-refundable registration fee of $60 is required upon enrollment and re-enrollment if the student's enrollment is terminated.
1.4 A deposit is chargeable upon enrolment. The deposit cannot be used to offset any regular lesson fees unless a termination notice is served either by the studio or requested by the student.
1.5 Student books and materials are not included in the tuition. Students will periodically be asked to purchase music and supplies---the teacher will provide specific information on items needed and how and where to easily purchase them.
PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS:
2.1 DAILY PRACTICE is expected and required for progress. Parents should help their child include piano practice in their daily routine, and will receive guidance on how to support their child’s practice at home.
2.2 Students must have an instrument at home to practice on. An acoustic piano is necessary for proper technical and musical development. You can start lessons without one (to see if it will be a good fit), but you can’t continue for long without something suitable on which to practice. Please feel free to contact us for guidance in this area. Studio also offers piano room hire for student’s practice, please WhatsApp 87955310 for more information.
2.3 Parents and students are strongly encouraged to communicate via text during the week regarding questions over assignments or practice, issues at home, etc.
TERMINATION OF LESSONS:
3.1 If the parent or student decides to terminate lessons for any reason, a two (2) week advance notice is required. The deposit may be applied to offset the fees for the final two lessons. Any remaining tuition fees are non-refundable for lessons that have been forfeited.
3.2 A student's enrollment will be terminated if the lesson fee payment is overdue by two (2) weeks, resulting in the depletion of the deposit, or if the student suspends lessons for more than two (2) months, regardless of the reason.
ATTENDANCE & CANCELLATION POLICY:
4.1 The tuition paid secures a dedicated weekly time slot for the student. Unlike other professions, the teacher is unable to resell or create additional teaching time to accommodate lessons. Therefore, we kindly ask that you select a lesson day and time that aligns consistently with you or your child's schedule.
4.2 A 24-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule a lesson. There will be no charge for lessons cancelled with sufficient notice.
4.4 Cancellations made by students within 24 hours will be treated as a no-show, and no credits, refunds, or make-up lessons will be offered for the missed lesson. However, if the cancellation is due to illness, a valid Medical Certificate must be provided to waive the no-show charge.
4.5 Lessons cancelled by the teacher will not incur any charges.
4.6 Make-up lessons offered by the teacher for missed lessons must be arranged within two weeks of the missed lesson. If not scheduled within this time frame, the make-up privilege will be forfeited.
